The superior Tray Dryer from Armfield 11 Jul 2012
Making the best use of laboratory space and resources is paramount to maintaining both technology and funding.
Armfield is delighted to introduce an enhanced versatile and user friendly product to the Heat & Mass Transfer Operations suite. The UOP8 MkII Computer Controlled Tray Dryer is an efficient bench-top unit manufactured from stainless steel to allow teaching and research on many applications, with the versatility for food grade research.
The UOP8 MkII Computer Controlled Tray Dryer dries solids by passing a stream of hot air over trays of wet material, a method commonly used in industry. It is applicable to the unit operations laboratory and to food technology education and research. This intuitive equipment has increased applications and research capabilities for demonstrating drying rate regimes, heat and mass transfer, drying tests on solids for industrial use, effects of temperature and air velocity on drying rates, and the use of psychometric charts.
The progression to computer control signifies full data logging, graphical analysis, greater and more consistent control of air flow velocity and temperature with the use of PID feedback control. A further development to its predecessor is an increase in the optimum temperature range (80°C) with higher air flow velocity parameters (3.0m/s). UOP8 MkII Computer Controlled Tray Dryer has an integrated electronic weight measurement system to allow for online monitoring throughout the process to determine the drying rate.
